Demand Claims to be Paid 100 Percent, Dozens of Customers Huddle the Bumiputera Insurance Office

Demand Claims to be Paid 100 Percent, Dozens of Customers Huddle the Bumiputera Insurance Office

Dozens of Bumiputera 1912 Joint Life Insurance (AJB) customers swarmed the branch office in Bandarlampung, Monday (5/6/2023).

They demanded 100 percent disbursement of insurance claims paid. They are waiting for an answer from the insurance until Wednesday (7/6/2023).

The Chairman of the Coordinator of the Indonesian Sons of the Earth Victims Association (PKBI), Viktor Nainggolan, stated that the number of customers who came was 37 people.

Even so, this number does not represent all customers in other areas who also demand the same thing.

"The number of customers in PKBI alone is almost 300 people," he said.

According to him, AJB Bumiputera reduced the claim value by 50 percent. That is, there is another 50 percent missing.

"Payment of claims with a nominal value of under IDR 5 million, he said, will be made this year. While above that in 2024," he explained.

He explained, in the initial agreement if the insurance policy runs out then the claim is paid after 14 working days.

However, since 2018 until now the claim has not been disbursed. Claim value per person varies, some are IDR 5 million to 100 million, even billions of rupiah.

Meanwhile, the Head of AJB Bumiputera Bandarlampung Branch Office Hendra Sirwa, stated that he would forward the customer's demands to the head office.

"We will convey the results of the coordination after receiving a reply from the head office," he said.

What is clear, this demand is related to claims because AJB Bumiputera has a policy responsibility of IDR 32.8 trillion and that is an obligation.

While the existing assets, both property and financial, are worth a total of IDR 9.5 trillion, so there is a difference of around IDR 23 trillion.

Based on internal and external studies, an impairment program is carried out ranging from 20 percent to 50 percent so that claims can be paid, given the difference.
