Jasindo Agrees to Pay PT Timah's Sunken Ship Insurance Claim for IDR 24 Billion

 

The insurance claim for Rp 24 billion from PT TIMAH Tbk (TINS) has been granted by PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Asuransi Jasindo). The catastrophe involving the sinking ship occurred in Riau in August 2019.

This claim is for a ship owned by PT TIMAH Tbk, specifically the TIMAH-10 Production Suction Vessel (KIP), which drowned in Kundur Waters, Riau Islands on August 31, 2019, according to Syah Amondaris, director of strategic business for Jasindo Insurance.

In an official statement released on Tuesday (11/4/2023), Aris stated that "the sum insured is Rp. 32.1 billion minus various clauses, including shipwrecks, so that Rp. 24 billion will be paid."

On March 15, 2023, a symbolic filing of this claim approval was made at the PT TIMAH Tbk Jakarta Representative Office. KIP TIMAH-10's sinking incident happened as it was conducting operational tasks in Kundur Waters, Riau Archipelago.

It should be noted that Jasindo Insurance, which is a general insurance company and a member of the Holding Indonesia Financial Group, works with surveyors and loss adjusters to help with the handling of claims processes and consistently puts the value of caution and Good Corporate Governance first.

The Krakatau TIN Timah Suction Production Ship (KIP), according to the information we have, caught fire in the waters off of Aik Kantung, Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, and Bangka Belitung (Babel). There were no casualties in the incident.

According to Anggi Siahaan, Head of Communications Division of PT Timah Tbk, "It's true, it happened on the east coast (Sariliat waters, Bangka)," on Thursday (11/4/2019) in the afternoon.

According to reliable sources, the ship fire incident happened about 08.30 WIB. According to the heavy, black smoke produced by the Krakatau ship's fire, the fire is believed to have originated from the ship's engine.
