This City Offers IDR 30 Million In Tax Breaks For Each Conversion to Electric Vehicles
For each electric car conversion, the Californian government offers incentives of up to US$2,000, or the equivalent of Rp. 30 million, in an effort to create an ecosystem for electrification. This new incentive is expected to be more helpful and persuade consumers to switch to electric cars.
According to Carscoops,
California State Senator Anthony Portantino's Senate Bill 301, which was
published this month, specifies the size of this incentive. According to
Portantino, the incentives will significantly help conversion by providing
discounts to Californians who decide to switch from gasoline-powered to
electric cars.
Given that the cost of new
electric vehicles in the US is still rather high, it is believed that the
availability of incentives would make it simpler for the general public. The
least expensive electric vehicle in the United States typically costs US$
66,000, or Rp 1 billion.
The cost of the conversion, in
contrast, is approximately 14,000 US dollars, or Rp. 212 million. When the
measure is passed, the California Air Resources Board will also create
guidelines.
The requirements of the vehicle
to be converted must be met by strict restrictions. The Specialty Equipment
Market Association (SEMA) believes that this action can help the conversion
component business in the US flourish.
This affects the quick development of parts and innovation in convertible electric vehicles. Mike Spagnola, CEO of SEMA, stated in the same source that "aftermarket components are pioneers in innovation, and this includes emission-free solutions." Because this concept is still a bill, Californians can voice their opinions by writing to their elected representatives.
